Hello! My name is Brian.

I’m an attentive listener and skilled provider of rehabilitation services. I’m registered with the Ontario College of Occupational Therapist and have extensive experience treating people in complex recovery.

I enjoy helping people recovering from accidents and other injuries, surgeries, orthopedic problems, brain injuries, and/or mental health conditions.

I speak English and am pleased to also work with language interpreters.

My goal is to assist you in your recovery and return to meaningful activity.

I’m great at hospital discharge planning, and assessment and treatment related to home, community, workplace, and school functioning. I provide equipment recommendations and client-friendly activities to help you maximize your participation in tasks that are important to you. In short, my job is to partner you toward your rehabilitation goals.

My clinical practice is grounded in clear communication, practical problem-solving, and collaborative care. I work closely with clients, families, treatment teams, and legal stakeholders to support recovery trajectories that are practical, evidence-based, and focused on long-term functional outcomes.

Personally, I love learning, exploring the outdoors, taking care of and challenging my body and mind, and hanging with friends and family.

The fine print for those interested: I have an undergraduate degree in Biology, a masters degree in Occupational Therapy (2000), and have completed post – graduate education in ergonomics and postural alignment, cognitive assessment and rehabilitation, concussion treatment, and pain management.

I worked in acute care hospital settings for over twenty years. This included comprehensive assessment of functional mobility, transfers, activities of daily living, cognition, seating and positioning, adaptive equipment needs, and overall safety for discharge and community reintegration. My hospital experience acts as a strong foundation for managing complex medical and functional presentations with a high level of clinical reasoning and risk awareness.

Today, my work focuses on the evaluation and treatment of individuals with complex injuries and disabilities, whether from motor vehicle accidents or otherwise. I emphasize restoring function, reducing physical and cognitive strain, and supporting clients to safely resume meaningful life roles.

I take a whole-person approach, recognizing that psycho emotional well-being plays a critical role in motivation, therapeutic engagement, and recovery. Toward this purpose, sessions incorporate body-based strategies such as breathing, posture, movement and tone of voice, to support greater client readiness to participate in daily activities, therapeutic exercises, and the recovery process overall.

Two recent areas of specialization: I’m a certified Postural Alignment Specialist (The Egoscue Institute). This enables me to identify and address underlying musculoskeletal imbalances that contribute to chronic pain and functional inefficiency. I’m also working toward certification as a Brain Gym Movement Facilitator to further support individuals with traumatic brain injury by promoting improved regulation, attention, coordination, and functional carryover.

I look forward to getting to know you. If there’s something else you’d like to know about me, just ask.

I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation for introductions and to talk about ways my work can support your goals. To book your New Client Consult, email me or book online.

Hello, Guten Tag, Drago mi je!

My name is Sandra Tocitu (she/her), or Sandy for short.

I’m a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, OCSWSSW.

I use a holistic and eclectic perspective, paying attention to one’s biology, psychology and environment. I believe a person’s existence and connectedness in this world is harnessed in their ability to belong, to be authentic, to have purpose and autonomy, to have meaning in life and to love/be loved. Without these, it’s easy to live in autopilot or survival mode.

Clients seek me out for help with their anxiety, depression, social anxiety, panic, family and parenting difficulties, pre-natal and post-partum challenges, domestic violence, addictions, and relationship issues.

I combine Mindfulness Interventions with various grounding techniques to assist clients to live fuller and more holistic lives, whilst accepting each person’s healing journey as uniquely their own.

My work is Trauma-informed and Attachment-based.

I also borrow modalities from Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Narrative Therapy.

I have over 10 years experience supporting children and adults in complex mental health, developmental difficulties, and challenging family circumstances. I’ve worked in community and hospital settings, including two years dedicated to supporting local indigenous peoples.

I am also a certified Circle of Security Parenting facilitator, and I am a trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapist. I’m a proud member of the Arizona Trauma Institute and I’m nearly finished Certified Clinical Trauma Specialization.

On a personal note, I’m a mom of three little ones, and share time and space with my husband and our extended family and friends. I am a knitting fanatic and love to box.

I’m fluent in Serbo-Croatian, German and English.

If you would like to know more about me, Just ask.

Hey there! I’m Emily (she/her; I’m a Newfie at heart).

I’m here to help you navigate life’s ups and downs.

Opening up about personal struggles isn’t easy, which is why I prioritize your having a space where you feel comfortable being yourself — with no judgment, just understanding. Whether you’re dealing with addiction, an eating disorder, anxiety, or navigating life’s challenges, I want therapy to be somewhere you feel safe and supported.

It can be intimidating to start therapy, so I work hard to create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where you can open up at your own pace. I believe we all deserve to be heard and that it’s my job to help you take charge of your healing journey. This is your journey; I’m here as your partner in crime.

I work with young adults, adolescents and individuals dealing with eating disorders, addiction, and mood and anxiety challenges. I like helping people through the tough stuff — from trauma to life transitions. I tailor my approach to each person’s unique circumstances.

My style is flexible, drawing on different therapeutic techniques like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I also love running group sessions. Group therapy is a wonderful place to build real-life skills, like managing stress, setting healthy boundaries, and coping with cravings and triggers.

When I’m not in the therapy room, you can usually find me sipping a coffee, exploring new coffee shops, or practicing yoga. These are some of the ways I stay grounded. I firmly believe in work-life balance. It’s important to take care of oneself, inside and out.

Did I mention that I’m a proud Newfie? Folks get surprised by my accent. I’m not from Texas though. Just a Newfie who moved to the mainland.

Whether you’re here for therapy or just looking for a safe space to talk, I’ve got you.

My first language is English. I’m proud to work with individuals from all walks of life, appreciating the richness of different backgrounds and experiences.

Reach out anytime — I’d love to hear from you and see how I can support you in your journey!

Curious about what it’s like to work with me? I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation to see if we’re a good fit. To book your New Client Consult, email me or book online.

Hey there! I’m Tamara. I’m an Associate Therapist at Midtown.

The only way out is through - Kristin Neff

Creating a safe environment is vital to the healing process. I value using compassion to soften the journey through hard memories and feelings. Your wellbeing and sense of growth are important goals to explore and integrate.

Most of my clients start counselling to help them through a difficult time. Much of my experience has been working with those who have experienced unkind life events and different forms of domestic violence and/or other traumatic experiences.

I enjoy helping my clients navigate anxiety, trauma (PTSD), relationship issues, and/or couples counselling (infidelity, betrayal, emotional neglect, family and parenting stress).

No matter what soil you find yourself planted in, I’m passionate about the important, collaborative work of helping you THRIVE!

I use evidence-based tools like Solution-Focused Therapy, SFT, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, EFCT. I also incorporate Attachment Theory, various cognitive modalities, and psychoeducation. I’m keen to explore what resonates best with you.

I have completed my Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and my Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Windsor.

As a new grad, I’ll be offering Associate Therapist Services at Midtown Counselling for the first while. To account for having fewer years of experience than other Midtown Therapists, Associates charge a much discounted rate: $100/session. I’m so pleased to provide this affordable service option while I grow my professional experience.

To learn more about this title and why you might prefer to work with an Associate Therapist, click here. To see how these fees compare with Midtown’s others fees, click here.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with family and listening to fun music while I walk, skate, or swim. I like trying new activities with old friends and sharing learning experiences with everyone. I don’t like to cook, but am happy to wash the dishes.

I’m proud to have served Kitchener-Waterloo for many years through volunteering and working in a variety of community services.

I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, OCSWSSW (#860788). Most extended health care plans accept this designation. I am also a member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals, OAMHP*

Hello! My name is Isi, short for Isidora (she/her).

I approach all aspects of my work and being through a human-centered approach with compassion, inclusion, and empathy. I believe everyone brings a unique set of skills and gifts to their life. I also believe everyone has the inherent ability to be well and thrive with the right support. I am honoured to share and hold space with clients while guiding them through their journey to where they want to be.

I take a holistic approach to well-being when supporting my clients’ mental health. I focus on their whole person - I take into consideration who they are physically, socially, and mentally.

I enjoy supporting young-adults and adults. Those I serve are often dealing with relationship issues, experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression, encountering work or post-secondary struggles, navigating big emotions, and/or working through a life transition.

In therapy, as is true in most circumstances, one size does NOT fit all. You’ll find me using a creative electic approach that tailors to your unique strengths and needs. I apply a Trauma-Informed lens and strengths-based approach and integrate techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), and Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT).

Everyone has the capacity to be a forever-learner, both personally and vocationally.

My corporate workshops and groups are founded on this belief: people’s skills and talents improve through reflection, guidance and action. I use common experiences and engaging activities to ground participants and help them connect and learn. I equip participants with skills and offer safe spaces to practice. I also help people interpret struggles and setbacks as natural parts of the work experience. This helps people contextualize their situation and take ownership of their wellbeing at work and home.

A bit more about who I am when I’m not working.

Maintaining work-life balance is important for me, even though it can be hard at times. I’ve learned it pays to find joy in all spaces of life. I love spending time with my friends and family.

I dabble in visual art, and do this as often as I’m able. My water-colour paintings are inspired by nature and animals.

On a Sunday morning you’re likely to find me pairing a yoga class and with a good coffee in downtown Kitchener.

My first language is Serbo-Croatian, although I’m more comfortable speaking English in sessions.

I look forward to meeting you. I offer initial phone consults to help us know if we’re a good fit for counselling. To book your free 20-minutes New Client Consult, email me or book online.
